Britain is truly a nation of garden lovers, and there are many varieties of gardens for you to visit and enjoy in the South West. There are the formal gardens which are part of our stately homes, botanical gardens housing collections of unusual species, and the cottage and private gardens created by and tended for by residents in the villages and towns, some of which are open to the public on certain days of the year. Call in to see the flowers, the designs and pause for tea and home made cake.
In addition there are several arboreta. These ‘tree gardens’; with their open avenues and hidden groves of magnificent and beautiful species are hundreds of years old.
Talks, courses and other cultural events are often hosted in the South West’s gardens and arboretum. We will make sure you know where to visit, as well as any special events occurring during your trip.
