Music and Literature

The South West has a rich history in both music and literature and a thriving and active scene today. You can hear live music performed and listen to poetry, readings and storytelling in settings such as grand castles and cathedrals to intimate inns and English gardens. There are international and local festivals in the cities, towns and villages across the region.
If you want to enhance your musical or literary skills and meet like minded people there are many short courses to enrol on.

We will provide you with daily details of what is on during your stay and also guide you to the wild landscape and picturesque towns which inspired such works as Lorna Doone, The Hounds of the Baskervilles and more recently Harry Potter; as well as the birth places of Samuel Coleridge, Laurie Lee, Edward Elgar and Gustav Holst amongst others.
